In addition, the City of Minot requires contractors in the construction business to obtain a city license in many trades. To obtain a contractor license in the city of Minot, you must meet the City of Minot requirement and pay a fee.


Licensing Requirements

The following is a list of the city licenses required by trade and the requirements to be met by the applicants.

  • Electrical: Must have a State Contractor License and a Master Electrician License from the State Electrical Board.

  • Journeyman Gas: Must have passed the City of Minot Exam (scheduled through this office) or have a reciprocal license from their City.

  • Journeyman Heating: Must have passed the City of Minot Exam (scheduled through the Inspections Office) or have a reciprocal license from their City.
  • Master Gas: Must have passed the City of Minot Exam (Scheduled through Inspections Office) or have a reciprocal license from their City.
  • Master Heating: Must have passed the City of Minot Exam ( scheduled through this office) or have a reciprocal license from their City.
  • Master Plumbing: Must have passed the City of Minot Exam ( scheduled through this office) or have a reciprocal license from their City.
  • Street (Cement): Must have a State Contractor License and a City of Minot License.
  • Street (Excavator/Cement): Must have a State Contractor License and a City of Minot License.
  • If Street Excavator/ Cement will be digging for sewer/water pipe/connection must have certification from State Plumbing Board and a City of Minot License.
