City's outdoor skating rinks are now open

Originally scheduled to open Dec. 15, warm weather delayed efforts to flood and freeze the rinks. The rinks are open from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 2 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The rinks are closed on Wednesdays.

MRC-operated rinks are: Roosevelt, 619 9th St. NE, hockey and pleasure rinks; Polaris Park, 712 26th Ave. NW, hockey and pleasure rinks; Perkett, 2000 5th Ave. SW, hockey only; Municipal Ball Park, 600 13th St. SE, pleasure only.

When school is in session rinks will open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 4 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 9:30 p.m. Rinks will be closed Wednesdays.

All rinks are supervised under their regular schedule. If there is questionable weather for skating, call the MRC weather hotline at 852-0820 for information about closings.
