Guidelines

If you have ever visited the City of Minot Landfill, or any other landfill, you probably remember seeing a plastic bag or two hanging from a nearby tree or fence. Empty plastic bags are a universal litter problem at all landfills.
Even the gentlest breeze can launch a plastic bag airborne and onto a neighbor's property. The Solid Waste Division therefore asks all landfill users to help prevent litter at the landfill by choosing to:

  • Reuse: Fill the bag with other waste before disposing of it at the landfill.
  • Recycle: Several local stores accept plastic bags for recycling.
  • Tie a Knot: Tie the bag in a knot and the wind cannot pick it up as easily.
