On February 5th at about 5:30 PM officers were dispatched to Marketplace Foods, 1930 South Broadway for a male and female who were intoxicated. They were walking through the store eating food as they shopped. When they got to the front of the store they didn’t have money to pay for the items they ate and exited the store. Police arrived and found the two subjects in the parking lot. They were identified as 24 year old Chase R. Rath and 21 year old Savanna D. Knudson, both of Minot. During the investigation it was determined that Rath drove a vehicle to the store. A toddler was found in the vehicle and had been left unattended in the vehicle, which was not running, for about 15 minutes in sub-zero temperatures. Chase Rath was placed under arrest for DUI, False Report to an Officer, and Neglect of a Child. Savanna Knudson was also arrested for Neglect of a Child. Both were transported to Ward County Jail. A family friend was contacted to take custody of the child.
