Dandelions aren’t the only thing popping up around Minot these days.
Residents might notice “No Parking” signs, giving neighborhood residents a heads-up that street sealing crews will be coming soon.
“If you see toilet paper on the road, they’re coming to do street sealing,” said Jesse Berg, project engineer for the City of Minot’s engineering department. “Crews are working in southeast Minot right now, and they’ll be starting on Burdick Expressway East on Thursday.”
But there will be no construction work happening on Burdick Expressway during the North Dakota State Fair, Berg said.
“July is always kind of the pre-Fair mad dash to get projects done that are in the area of the fairgrounds,” he said. “Per our contracts, the projects that are starting near the fairgrounds have to be done before the Fair starts.”
The “No Parking” signs will be placed at least 48 hours before work begins. If you see these signs in your neighborhood, please move your vehicle off the street so crews can safely and efficiently seal the street. Berg stressed that crews move quickly through the process, which includes chip sealing (oil and rock) and fog sealing (a thin coat of oil over the top to seal in the rocks). Once both processes have been completed, traffic will return to the road. The crews will work in all sections of Minot between now and mid-August.
