Burns named top FD instructor in ND

Austin Burns has been the FD training captain for 2 years.

Capt. Austin Burns (right) will end his two years as training captain in December.


Capt. Austin Burns of the Minot Fire Department has been named the instructor of the year by the North Dakota Firefighter’s Association.

“It’s truly an honor and something I never expected, but you’re only as good as your teammates. The people that surround me are key to making everything work here at the Minot Fire Department,” Burns said. “This is really a Minot Fire Department award.”

Burns, who has been with the Minot Fire Department for seven years, will accept the award this weekend at the NDFA instructor conference in Devils Lake. He will end his two
